OBITUARY  MR ALLAN GIFFIN 13 March 1969

For many years a popular resident of Molong, Mr Allan Giffin (72) passed away suddenly at his home in Fairlight on February 19th.

He had not been in good health for some time, but had not been incapacitated, and was mowing his lawn at the time of his collapse.

He was born at Manildra, and lived for some time at Woodburn on the North Coast. He later conducted a garage at Tullamore, where he was manager.

Mr Giffin then returned to Molong with his wife and family of young children, and was for some time with the firm of Crook and Giffin. He later followed the pursuit of wool classing, which he relinquished to move to Fairlight some five years ago.

Mr Giffin was a keen sportsman and was interested in horse racing, and he excelled at cricket, golf and bowls.

He was a member of the Molong Jockey Club and for a time was president of the Molong Bowling Club.

Since his removal to Sydney he has been a member of Manly Bowling Club, where he won numerous trophies.

Mr Giffin is survived by his wife Hilda, a son Ken (Fairlight) and daughters Betty (Mrs E. Evans, Pinecliffe), Marie (Mrs Parnell, Umina), Velma (Mrs J. Hill), Margaret (Mrs Kemble, Broken Hill) and Shirley (Mrs Dooley, Balgowlah).

He leaves a brother, Eric (Molong), and two sisters, Mesdames Keys and Oliver (Sydney). A brother, Clarrie, is deceased.
