HENRY BURGESS OBITUARY
Molong Express 7-3-1947

The passing on, at his residence, Cudal Street, Manildra, on Wednesday afternoon February 26th, of one of the best known and oldest residents of this district in the person of Mr Henry Burgess.

The deceased who was aged 86 years, had been failing in health for some time past, so that his demise was not unexpected by his relatives.

The late Mr Burgess was one of a large family born at Molong of a well-known pioneer family of that centre and at one stage of his career was engaged in the butchery business there.  He was also the owner of property at White Flat in that district and on disposal of the same about 30 years ago, moved to Manildra and took up residence.

Mr Burgess was for some time associated with his son Ray’s butchery business and for many years was a noted blade shearer.

The death of his wife Mrs Suzanna Burgess nearly two years ago [a member of the well-known FROGLEY family of Manildra] was a hard blow to the deceased and from then onward his advancing age appeared to go against him.

Surviving to mourn the loss of a devoted parent is 6 sons and 4 daughters: Clive and John [Ryde], Richard [Manildra], Kenneth [Boree Creek], Ray [Lithgow], Harold [Molong], and daughters Hilda [Mrs J. Shaw, Willoughby], Coral [Mrs McPherson, Forbes], Thelma [Mrs Brown, Bedgerabong] and Elizabeth [Mrs H. Hodges, Forbes].

In addition to his wife the deceased was predeceased by five brothers: Messrs James, John, William, George and Edward, and two sisters, Mesdames Roberts and McGroder [Molong].  A surviving brother is Francis of Cudal Street, Manildra.
