OBITUARY  MR C. E. GIFFIN 31 August 1967

The death occurred on August 16 of a well known businessman, Mr Clarence Edward Giffin, at the age of 72 years.

Mr Giffin was a member of a district pioneer family and had during 45 years business association as a Stock and Station agent earned high respect from residents of the Molong district and over a wide area of the west.

Born at Manildra on February 21 1895, he was the son of the late Mr and Mrs Richard Giffin. On completing his education he became a bank official, with service at Tumbarumba, Mandurama, Wilcannia and Lidcombe, before joining his brother, Mr Eric Giffin, in the agency firm of Crook and Giffin 45 years ago.

Mr Giffin was a keen sports fan and in his earlier years took an active interest cricket and shooting. He also took an interest in the affairs of the man on the land, and was a most efficient secretary to the Molong Farmers and Settlers Association for the past 35 years.

Mr Giffin suffered a stroke six years ago, but despite the effect on his health continued his business activities until the day of his death, having been at his office up till a few hours before his final brief illness.

The late Mr Giffin, who was not married, leaves two sisters and two brothers, Mrs Keys and Mrs Oliver (Gladesville), Allan (Fairlight, Manly) and Eric (Molong).
